June with all the lovely sunny days starts our summer season – at least in the Northern Hemisphere. June gives us that extra boost of energy that helps us lift our spirits and move forward.
Travel:
June is a popular time for travel. Schools have let out for summer break and many people take this time off to spend time with their families either on a trip or taking advantage of the opportunities in their own neighborhood.
I am looking forward to a trip this month to visit family and to refresh myself by the ocean. Trips take a bit of planning but are so worth it. Take some time to plan on what to pack. You don’t want to forget anything, but you don’t want to overpack either.
I also plan on taking a day off from work to visit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I love to see what is going on every season. There is a new exhibit that I am looking forward to seeing. The gardens allow me to get out of the house and have a restful break.
Party:
June is a great time to give a party because you can overflow onto your deck, patio, or lawn. There are a lot of fun “special days” to build on just for fun. A couple of my favorites are:
· Fish and Chip Day (June 5) – you can turn this into a seaside party theme
· Tapas Day (June 16) – add some Sangria and Spanish music and you are good to go
· Global Beattles Day (June 25) – pull out the music and decorations and travel back in time
Organizational Projects:
June is a great time to do some organizational projects that move you forward but don’t overwhelm. I like to tackle my bathrooms and linen closet during this month. A lot of the tasks in this area can be broken down into small chunks so you only spend a short period of time each week completing the project. This is a time that I pull out my Organize Your Home 10 Minutes at a Time deck of cards to help me focus on the task.
Get out your calendar and see what times you can schedule to enjoy this special time of the year. Don’t let the month slip by without enjoying some fun activities.
